What lengths would you go to, to make it happen?

Yes, great question right? I f you really want something, what would you be prepared to do? What would you not be prepared not to do?
As a busy mum of 2 (first born has flown the nest already), working and running a business, looking after the needs of my girl and boy still at home, my family (I have a big one) obligations and all the things that get thrown at me in life, it can be a bit of a struggle to find time to do the things that I really want to do. Those yummy and simple things like reading, sports, sleeping YES!, meeting friends and just finding time for ME ME ME. I tell you, sometimes I wish I could clone myself. I sure do acknowledge that I need to embrace my time right now and just do what I can with the resources I have. Quite often I do miss out on doing my thing but lately I have been silently and subtly pushing to tip the scales to find more balance. A much needed tip, as I have to practice what I preach in my business especially. And especially since I had a good few months last year, of recuperating from a unexpected bout of illness, when I was so sure I was not burnt out.
Well, as I mentioned in my note to you last week, I went on this meditation retreat. I really wanted to go, because for the past couple of years I had always found some excuse not to. Well, this time (although my friend did give me a nudge..), I was going to make it happen. I was willing to go to great lengths to do this retreat because I absolutely love meditation and I felt the pull to do it.

Here's what I had to do to get to the retreat which was about 10 minutes drive from my home. I needed to get my son and daughter looked after over the weekend. My son was going to spend the weekend at his cousin's place (about 30 minutes drive away). As she was still at work I needed to drop Tim off at my mum's in the afternoon. Then I drove back home to pack my bag and do some other last minute things. After that I drove 10 minutes to pick up Emily from school and drove a further 45 minutes to her calisthenics class. From there I drove more than 1 hour in peak hour Friday night traffic back towards the retreat, which as I said is a mere 10 minutes (13 kms) from my home! So all up I travelled around 3 hours (180 kms) to get to do something I really wanted to do, talk about going to great lengths! And it wasn't the first time and I know it won't be the last time. The point I'm making is that if it is something important and dear to your heart, you would do anything to see or make it happen, just like I did. To become successful in whatever you choose to do, you have to go the distance!

Have you done something like this? Have you gone to great lengths to stand up for something you know is right, something you know is important? I'd love to know what you did! Please share it here.

Much love as always and do what you gotta to do, to make it happen!
